Each Madi Mane is shaped by master woodworkers in the temple-belt of Karnataka — artisans who learned the craft from their fathers, who learned it from theirs. They select aged jackfruit logs (Halasina Mara), season them naturally, and carve each peeta with chisels and patience that no machine can replicate.
The four-leg silhouette, the gently curved edges, and the polished but un-lacquered finish — every detail follows specifications laid out in the traditional Shilpa Shastra texts. When you bring this Madi Mane home, you are not buying furniture; you are continuing a centuries-old craft lineage and supporting families who keep it alive.
Knots, grain variations, and small natural marks are signatures of authenticity — proof that your piece was carved from a real tree, by a real artisan, just for you.
Daily care: Wipe with a soft, dry cotton cloth before lighting the lamp. If kumkum, oil, or ghee spills, dab gently — do not rub.
Weekly care: Use a slightly damp cloth (water only). Dry immediately with a soft cloth.
Avoid: Detergents, surface cleaners, alcohol-based sprays, abrasive scrubbers, and prolonged direct sunlight. Never place a hot deepam directly on the surface — always use a brass plate underneath.
Once a year: Apply a thin coat of pure coconut oil with a soft cloth to nourish the wood. Wipe off excess after 30 minutes.
With this care, your Madi Mane will deepen in colour and character, becoming a family heirloom passed to the next generation.
